It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas!

Time is flying and, as usual, everything takes longer than you think it will! Kelly, Ian, and I have been very thankful to be able to stay at Kelly's parents' the past 6 weeks, as the house is still very chilly even with the woodstove going. Dave has been doing the electrical work for us and so the ceiling is ready to insulate anytime now, which hopefully will help with keeping the place warm. The framing is done, so the plumber plans to come in December 20th. Our well driller showed Kelly how to hook up the well system, so it is ready to run once we finish up some more electrical in the house.

We had our ultrasound shortly after Thanksgiving and all looked perfect! We are looking forward to a new baby boy or baby girl somewhere around April 20th!

Kelly took a few opportunities here and there during hunting season to hunt near his Dad's cabin and on Thanksgiving morning he got a nice buck! With the help of his cell phone, Dad, and 4-wheeler, they got the deer out in time to eat Thanksgiving leftovers that evening!

October 2006 pics

A lot has happened this month on our house- thanks to the many hours of help from our family and friends! Mom and Dad came out on the train the last weekend in September and Dana and Susan came out for the day that Saturday- what fun! Kelly's Mom and Dad have spent MANY days out there and bring up extra help whenever it works out and we are forever grateful.... The outside chinking and staining is done (Praise the Lord), the water line and most of the telephone line is buried, gravel road is in, septic tank hole is dug, concrete floor is stained, stairway is in, framing is begun, upstairs floor is done, hearth is rocked up, interior staining and chinking is begun... so things are moving along. Kelly is going to move in the start of November and Ian and I hope to move in later that month- hopefully by Thanksgiving.

Windows & Chinking- Sat. Sept. 23, 2006

Saturday was an excellent day! The sun was shining, the sky blue, and we had lots of good help! While my dad, my friend Matt and I hung windows, Lori, my mom and Matt's wife Stephanie did the chinking. We were very thankful for the help.

Both dad and Matt had good ideas for putting the windows in, and Matt had all the perfect tools to finish the job. After spending what seemed like forever on the foundation, it is fun to see things coming together at a much quicker pace.

Oh, and I also included two pictures from the pour, just for old times sake. And Ian did a great job, taking naps and playing in his playpen - he's a good kid!

Weekend at the job site

Just a few pictures of our time working on the house last weekend. Kelly worked on stapling in the backer rod while I worked on covering the backer rod with the chink. Ian worked at playing in his playpen, but he didn't have to work at it very hard! We had friends stop out to take a look and he was thoroughly entertained by their 2 year old son.
